Specialty Trainee
StR Information

Trainees within SESA are either Specialty Trainees (StR) or Specialist Registrars (SpR). This page is for Specialty Trainees (StR) - those who started run-through training in August 2007. Eventually all trainees will be StRs and this will happen when the 'old' SpRs have gained CCT.

One great difference is that the syllabus for StRs is competence based and not module based. The Royal College of Anaesthetists is busy trying to make certain that all the documentation is ready for StRs and this page gives access to the forms needed to progress through the system. We recommend that all StRs in SESA start using these forms from now. You will have to be patient with trainers trying to use these new methods of assessment.

The annual assessment of StRs is the ARCP - Annual Review of Competence Progression. The first one will be held in June/July 2008. We do not yet know the format.

First you must be registered with the Royal College of Anaesthetists (even if you were registered as SHO);
